Beauty | My Super Speedy Skincare Routine

I've been in two minds for a while now about whether or not to write a post on my skincare routine, as many other bloggers always have such wonderfully advanced and extensive skincare routines that strike fear into my heart, and into my bank balance. But I decided that although my skincare routine is very simplistic, it still works for me and is thus worth writing about. At the very least, this allows me the chance to share my favourite skincare products with you all!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser
In the mornings I wash my face with this face wash from The Body Shop. It's really great at keeping my skin nice and clear and making it feel clean! I use a pump and a half from the bottle, massage the foam across my face in circular motions, rinse it away then pat my face dry with a towel. When using a towel it's really important to pat rather than rub your face dry as the roughness of the towel can strip and scratch at your skin - if you want a face scrub, get a gentle specialised one, don't try and use your towel as an exfoliator!

Before applying my make-up, I usually put on a bit of moisturiser to try and allay any dry patches on my face. At the moment I'm using Garnier Moisture Soft Daily Light Moisturiser (which I bought a while ago, before I went cruelty-free) but I'm personally not too picky about which moisturising cream I use, as long as it is moisturising, because the other products in this post keep my skin moisturised anyway.

Throughout the Day
I generally try and remember to carry a hand cream and a lip balm around with me in case I feel the need to use them when I'm out and about.

Make-Up Removal
For my eye make-up I get a little of Botanics All Bright Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover on a cotton pad and carefully wipe my eye area. The important thing here is to remember to shake it before use, because I, a complete doughnut, did not do this for a while and thought the product was rubbish. But if shaken (as the bottle does actually tell you to do), it gets make-up off pretty easily! An additional thing to flag up with it is that the Boots website says an ingredient in it may increase your sensitivity to the sun, so if you burn easily you definitely might want to give this one a miss. Beyond that though, it does its job, and even waterproof formulations melt away after a mere few dabs! For the rest of my make-up, I cleanse my face with Botanics Hydration Burst Dual Action Cleanser, a cleansing gel that I usually apply by massaging it over my make-up with my fingers, then I rinse my face (with lukewarm water as using overly hot water on the face can strip it of its moisture). It takes make-up off easily and also hydrates the skin.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner
Every night before bed, I get some tea tree toner on a cotton pad and dab it all over my face. I dab rather than wipe as pulling and stretching at your skin isn't good for it. I use the toner to wipe away any last bits of impurities from the day and to generally ensure my skin stays clear.

Soap & Glory Puffy Eye Attack Turbo-Boost Hydragel
I have mentioned this product before here. I dot (again not stretching at my skin by wiping) a tiny bit of this under my eyes every night, and if I've had significantly less than 8 hours sleep I'll usually apply some in the mornings too.

Lip care
I then use some Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub (reviewed here) followed by The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Solid Oil Lip Balm which I let soak in overnight. They're my dream duo when it comes to lip care and since I've been using them I've rarely had any dryness on my lips. Another thing to note is that they last so long, after two years I've only just 'hit pan' on my lip balm and after a year of using the lip scrub I'm barely past the neck of the jar.

Weekly face mask
Once a week I use Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Super Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask which I also spoke about here. I can't recommend this face mask more, it does exactly what it says on the tin (or rather, the tube)!

Thanks for reading! I'd be interested in your thoughts on this post or any of these products in the comments!
