Beauty | Eight Great Lip Colours for Autumn

As can easily be deduced from the content of my blog, lipsticks are my favourite make-up products, with little changing in my make-up routine aside from lip colour. So, in continuing on from last Thursday's Autumn-themed post, I thought I'd go down the beauty route and that my best option would be a little something on my favourite lip colours for the season. Swatches included!

P.S. Love Makeup Lipstick in Rosewood Mauve
I spotted these 80p lipsticks in Primark and figured that at such a tiny price I might as well give one a go. If it was useless, I'd spent less than £1 on it so there was no great loss. But, I was really pleasantly surprised by them. In terms of staying power, they do fade a little and probably need re-applying every 3 hours or so, but they're not really fetched off all that much by eating which is usually my trouble with lipsticks. They're also really pigmented and sit nicely on the lips, not feeling dry at all. The colour is perfect for Autumn being a fairly deep pink but not deep enough that it can't be worn day-to-day. I would perhaps describe it as a 'berry pink', and it's a perfect alternative to the brighter everyday pinks of Summer.

Seventeen Mega Matte Lipstick in Roses Are Red
It looks a little brighter swatched on my arm, but Roses Are Red is a very interesting shade in that it's a red that seems to have orange and brown undertones. I think it may be best described as a rust-tinted red and, as it's not a bright, pinkish red, it's a perfect shade for the Autumn.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Reds Collection Lipstick in Wine Not? (Satin)
Sticking with reds, Soap & Glory offers a wine-coloured red in a lovely satin finish. In terms of staying power, considering the price, it's not the best on this list but it still lasts reasonably well, just needing touch ups after eating oily foods. Most importantly, it does not bleed - because we all know bleeding lipstick is 10 times worse when it's red (Heath Ledger's Joker, anyone?)

Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick
in Biscuit
I chose Biscuit (which I discussed in more detail here) as it's essentially a nude shade but with a darker undertone - perhaps more of a brown nude than a pink nude. As Autumn lips are all about going darker and leaving the rosy pinks behind, I thought this was perfect.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Toasted Marshmallow
I haven't actually tried this out yet as I only bought it recently when I was doing a little bit of Autumnal lipstick shopping but I chose it as its lovely berry shade caught my eye and I'd been curious to try out a NYX butter gloss for a while. I don't usually go for glossy shades so I'm definitely interested to see how this turns out!

NYX Slide On, Glide On Lip Pencil in Brick House
Something else I bought at the same time as the Intense Butter Gloss was this lip pencil which I will either use as a lip-liner or apply all over my lips and wear alone. Like Seventeen's Roses Are Red it has a kind of rust undertone but this one is quite a bit darker. I have really high hopes for its staying power as after I took the swatch photos on my arm, I tried to get the swatches off with just water at first and all the products at least smudged, apart from Brick House which hardly budged at all.

NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Lala
I have spoken about Lala in a haul post here where I mentioned its staying power wasn't much to write home about, and also that I prefer to apply it with a lip brush so I can apply it thinly as the lipstick is very pigmented and the colour is quite dark for my skin tone. However, it's still a lovely purple shade and will definitely look right at home in the coming colder months.

The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Universal Velvet Stick
How I'd best describe this lipstick is as a 'MLBB shade with plum undertones', making it perfect for Autumn. In the swatch photo it looks a bit patchy but it certainly doesn't look that way when applied to the lips, and instead just looks like a subtle pop of colour for an everyday look. I wrote more about this product in this post.
