Fashion | Holiday Lookbook: Cumbria, UK

This year on my holidays I went to Cumbria. We stayed in a lovely coastal holiday cottage called Seagull Cottage, in Haverigg, which I definitely recommend as a place to stay (but be warned that the WiFi and phone signal are a bit iffy). Whilst I was there, I picked up some new homeware bits, which will be coming up in a haul post soon and I also started work on today's post, my holiday lookbook. Hope you enjoy!

Saturday

Outfit
Dress - Topshop / Jacket - Marks & Spencer / Shoes - Tu @ Sainsbury's / Vest - Primark
Like last year, I didn't bother with any makeup or accessories on the first day of the holiday as my day very much involved getting up at stupid o'clock and sitting in a car for hours, and when I've woken up at 4am the last thing on my mind is the state of my eyebrows or what earrings I should pair with my dress. This dress was a bargain I grabbed in Topshop's recent sale and I wore it with a vest underneath as I usually do, to retain my modesty with such a gaping neckline. I also feel the addition of a vest adds a bit more dimension to the neckline anyway.

Sunday

Outfit
Top - Next / Trousers - Miss Selfridge / Jacket - Marks & Spencer / Shoes - Converse / Vest - Primark
Accessories
Handbag - Tu @ Sainsbury's / Bracelet - Next / Rings - Pandora / Necklace - Nevermore Boutique / Earrings - Accessorize / Hair grip - New Look
Make-up
Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light / The Body Shop Brush On Radiance / Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil / Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Sable Brown / The Body Shop Smoky Eye Definer Pencil in Navy Blue NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara in Brown/Black / Rimmel 'The Only 1' Lipstick in It's A Keeper / Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip Liner in Clear
On this day I went for what could be a smart pair of trousers and dressed them down with my jacket, casual top, and Converse. I put on a vest underneath in a brighter pink to brighten up the top itself and as extra insulation as it was a (intentionally) holey top. I also did what you may call a 'shop your stash' while I was packing as the top and a few of the accessories are things I've neglected for months (or maybe years), so it was good to blow the dust off them!

Monday

Outfit
Blouse - H! by Henry Holland @ Debenhams / Dungarees - Vintage / Jacket - Marks & Spencer / Shoes - Converse
Accessories
Rings - Pandora / Earrings - Accessorize / Necklace - Jon Richard @ Debenhams
Make-up
Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light / Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil / Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Superblack / Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner in Brown / NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt / Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara in Brown/Black / Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Reds Collection Lipstick in Fired Up (Matte)
As you can probably tell by the fact my hair is tied back, Monday was a very windy day, so I avoided a skirt at all costs. As it was still quite warm, I was in perfect comfort with a shorts and tights combination and decided to rock the dungarees you may have seen in last year's holiday haul post. I also opted for a lipstick red enough to complement the red ladybirds on my blouse, but not too bold a red that it couldn't be worn casually.

Tuesday

Outfit
Top - Miss Selfridge / Jeans - Next / Jacket - Marks & Spencer / Shoes - Converse
Accessories
Bag - Tu @ Sainsbury's / Earrings - Dorothy Perkins (below) / Rings - Pandora
Make-up
Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light / Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil / Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Superblack / The Body Shop Smoky Eye Definer Pencil in Navy Blue / NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt / Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara in Brown/Black / NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul
A little birdy (well, actually it was whichever family member had watched the weather forecast on BBC News the previous night) told me it would rain on this day, so I opted for the only coat/jacket I, in my blind hopefulness, had actually packed, a comfy pair of jeans and my trusty Converse. I also broke out some earrings that I'd bought the previous day in the Dorothy Perkins sale.

Wednesday

 Outfit
Top - Urban Outfitters / Skirt - Vintage / Shoes - Converse
Accessories
Necklace & Earrings (Set) (above) - Dorothy Perkins
Make-up
Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light / Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil / Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Superblack / Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara in Brown/Black / The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick in Universal (as lipstick)
It was a bit of a rainy day here so I decided to do my outfit photographs indoors (apologies for the effects of poor lighting on these photos). I usually pair this skirt with a similar top to this one but in navy, however for the sake of Summer brights I went for an orange alternative instead - to complement the orange tones in some of the skirt's flowers. The necklace and earrings, which came as a set, were purchased on the Monday as part of a buy one get one free deal alongside the earrings I wore on Tuesday. It all came to £2.70 after student discount was applied - it would have been rude not to!

Thursday

Outfit
Top - Miss Selfridge / Shorts - Topshop / Jacket - Marks & Spencer / Shoes - Tu @ Sainsbury's
Accessories
Rings - Pandora / Necklace - Nevermore Boutique / Earrings - Accessorize
Make-up
Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light / The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick in Universal (as blush) / Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil / Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Superblack / Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara in Brown/Black / NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul
If you've been reading my blog for a while you may recognise a couple of items in this outfit - the top which featured in the same haul as the dungarees above, and the shorts which actually featured in last year's holiday lookbook. The green in the shorts matches brilliantly with the floral print in the top and both the items are very loose-fitting, therefore super comfortable, without being unflattering! I'm also beginning to wonder if there's anything that jacket looks bad with.

Friday

Outfit
Dress - Band of Gypsies @ Topshop / Jacket - Marks & Spencer / Shoes - Tu @ Sainsbury's
Accessories
Necklace - Jon Richard @ Debenhams / Bracelets - Unknown / Earrings - Dorothy Perkins
Make-up
Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Light / Seventeen Brow Sculpting Pencil / Soap & Glory Smoulder Kohl in Superblack / Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara in Brown/Black / NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt / The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick in Universal (as lipstick)
What I love about this dress is that it's so effortless and comfortable, perfect for just 'throwing on' for an action-packed day of exploring Cumbria. I also love how bold the pattern is too as it can speak for itself perfectly with very minimal accessorising. Another great find in a Topshop sale!

I hope you've enjoyed reading my holiday lookbook as much as I enjoyed making it! I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments on which looks you liked best!
