Beauty | August Favourites: Travel Edition

As you may have seen here, I went on holiday this month and, as a result, my August favourites are quite travel orientated, with most of them being multi-purpose products. However, they're absolutely brilliant for any time of the year and I'm really looking forward to using them more often in future. I have spoken about some of these products before in other posts (which I will link to), but in this post I'm going to be expanding on those thoughts and focusing more on their benefits for travel.

The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Universal Velvet Stick
Being a lip and cheek stick, this is perfect to pack as a blusher for your travels, because you then end up with a bonus lipstick! For applying this as a lipstick, it's just a simple swipe across your lips as normal. To apply to cheeks you can either get it on your fingers and dab and blend it onto your cheeks, or - as I prefer to do - you can pick up the product with a makeup brush and apply it that way. Whilst The Body Shop do sell this product in four standard colours, the one I have instead adapts to the pH of your skin to give you a personalised colour! I will soon be writing a post comparing this with Barry M's Genie lip paint, which also adapts to your pH, so watch this space (or subscribe to my mailing list over in the sidebar)!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul
I picked this up in my lip colour haul last month and gave my first impressions of it as a great MLBB shade with good staying power and a non-drying matte finish. To expand upon that, the more I've worn this the more I've realised how soft and silky the finish is - it doesn't have that hard, dry feeling you sometimes get from matte lip products. The lipstick only really fades due to oily food, rather than time, and fades evenly enough that you don't end up looking like you only applied lip liner today. Coming in quite a compact bottle makes it ideal for travel as you can easily pop it in even a very small handbag.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt
I did write a little about this already in my post on eyeshadow sticks here, but I would like to stress how excellent the staying power is. Very often I forget I'm wearing it and accidentally touch my eyelids, at which point I do end up with quite a shimmery finger but upon looking at my eyeshadow at the end of the day, it still looks as good as new! Eyeshadow sticks are of course much more convenient for travel as they're a lot less heavy than a full palette and don't require any makeup brushes for application - to create an eye look with several of these you can easily blend them with your fingers.

Seventeen Doll'd Up Mascara
Another product I have already spoken about in a review here but I really wanted to add to that by noting that this mascara completely removes the need for an eyelash curler - which is great for lightening your make-up bag just a little. It also makes applying makeup a little bit quicker as rather than curling your eyelashes with a curler and then applying mascara, you can curl and apply mascara in a single motion!

Parma Violet Shower Soap
To add to my thoughts on the soap here, this is simply wonderful for travel. You don't need to pack a loofah as it has built-in sponge fingers and it's also so moisturising and exfoliating that it reduces the need to pack body butters or body scrubs!

20-piece Tonsee Brush Set from Amazon
I'm breaking the rules a little here as this isn't explicitly a travel-friendly product, but I felt this wonderful bargain needed sharing! I managed to pick these up for £3.06, plus £1.05 delivery - although they are actually slightly cheaper in some of the other colour schemes available. I knew it was a risk ordering such cheap make-up brushes online but when they came I was very pleasantly surprised. The brushes are really soft, seem to me to be of good quality and also look very pretty on my dressing table. At £4-ish for 20 brushes, it was money very well spent!

Thanks for reading my August favourites! Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to see your thoughts in the comments below :)
