Entertainment | Game of Thrones Tag

As season 6 has just finished (and oh my goodness, how brilliant was it?!), I decided as I'm so hyped up on Game of Thrones I wanted to write a blog post on it. I found questions for my Game of Thrones Tag here and here after a quick Google search. So without further ado...

How did you discover the series?
There was a lot of talk about it at Sixth Form until, after so many recommendations, I decided to cave in and watch it. By the time I started there were four seasons already there to catch up on!

Favourite house other than Starks and Lannisters?

Tyrell. They're great schemers and Margaery and Olenna are brilliantly sassy and two of my favourite characters. They also give the Lannisters a run for their money a few times which I rather enjoy.

Favourite character from House Stark?

I love all of them so this is a tough choice. However, I would have to go with Sansa. Her story arc has been a brilliant one of growth and she's developed brilliantly over the seasons. It's been great to see her start playing the game more recently, but even before that she was incredibly underrated when you consider how cleverly she managed to stay alive and how she stayed strong all that time.

Favourite character from House Lannister?

Tyrion! He's clever at playing the game, and also has some really great lines. That being said, for the same reasons, Tywin is a close second.

Favourite character?

I have several. Sansa, Tyrion, Margaery, Catelyn, Robb, Tywin and Bronn are all pretty high-ranking for me. But there are plenty more characters to love.

Least favourite character?

Although Joffrey and Ramsay would be obvious choices, they're fun to love to hate. So, my least favourite characters would be Qyburn and Jaqen H'ghar. Although I liked Jaqen H'ghar when he was originally in the show, when he returned in season 5 I just found him annoying and everytime he ever did something I just felt like saying "alright dude, chill". As for Qyburn, he's a sneaky (and slightly creepy) git and I want to know what on earth he's up to.

What are your thoughts on the series/books?

I haven't yet read the books though I do intend to! Regarding the series, I love how it's based off historical events such as the War of the Roses and historical figures such as Richard III (drawing parallels with Stannis Baratheon) and Henry VII (Daenerys Targaryen). I also like the subtle social commentary it has going on and certainly think some interesting feminist critiques could be drawn out of the show.

If you could be one of the characters who would you be and why?

Probably Missandei. She gets to hang out with Tyrion, Greyworm, Dany and the dragons but without as much stress as Dany of having to run Meereen.

Favourite episode?
I'm going to go for three. Rains of Castamere (The Red Wedding) because that was phenomenally acted by everyone involved. The Battle of the Bastards because of that glorious end scene with Sansa. The Winds of Winter because we saw storylines converging and it set us up for a brilliant season seven.

Favourite season?
Possibly six, it's been a brilliant season! After that, maybe season three.

Game of Thrones crush?

Can I just be unoriginal here and go with Jon Snow as well?

Most looking forward to?

Seeing how Jaime reacts to what Cersei got up to while he was gone. Also looking forward to seeing what Bran does with his new information on Jon Snow, and what happens with Daenerys when she finally crosses the Narrow Sea. Also looking forward to Arya's storyline, as it looks like she's replacing Lady Stoneheart from the books.

Who do you want to win Game of Thrones?
I know the popular choice is Daenerys but I have mixed views on her. She has often shown naivety in the past with regards to ruling, although I think with Tyrion advising her she could do well. Alternatively, Sansa or Jon could do well. Just not Littlefinger. Please not Littlefinger.

Who do you think will make it to the end and who will die?

I think Littlefinger will certainly make it to the end because he's just that slimy. Cersei will die, as will Theon and possibly Jaime. I also think Bran, Bronn and Brienne will definitely survive. I'm unsure who I expect to take the throne in the end though.
