Entertainment | My Funko POP! Vinyl Collection

Anyone who read my Love/Hate Tag or my Get To Know Me post will know that I have a soft spot for Funko's POP! Vinyl figurines. I currently have 6 and my collection is constantly expanding. I find the products to be a fun and quirky twist on many of my favourite characters, and I feel the brand makes even the most detestable characters look adorable. So I thought I'd do a little round-up of my collection so far. I hope you enjoy it!

My first ever POP! Vinyl was that of Marty McFly from Back to the Future, bought as part of a group present from friends of mine for my 18th birthday last September. He wears his orange jacket from the first film, which I fondly remember for the 'life-preserver' joke. Although not without a couple of tiny flaws in the paint job, the attention to detail in the actual design of this figurine is wonderful - right down to the tiny silver buttons on his jacket.

On my birthday I also got a POP! Vinyl of Game of Thrones' Tywin Lannister. The detail of design in his armour is fantastic but what I love most about the figurine is how adorable it is in contrast to the very seriously natured character it's based on.

Following this, I began making my own purchases to add to my little group. Marty McFly was joined by Doctor Emmett Brown, completing my Back to the Future collection. This one is very impressive, every aspect of his design appears to have been crafted with the utmost precision - even his remote control has carved-on detail!

Tywin Lannister was soon joined by more Game of Thrones buddies (or enemies in most cases), the first of which was the much-loved Daenerys Targaryen. I bought the third of her designs that Funko released. Although the odd review said she wouldn't stand up, I decided to take the risk as it was my favourite design of the three. She came with a circular display stand (as she has a very small body that forms an imbalance with her head). My only issue with her has been that although still standing, she does lean backwards a little bit. I decided to make the best of the situation by making the excuse that she is standing tall and proud - not unlike her character. But the leaning is nothing a blob of Blu-Tack won't fix anyway.

Next up was a Jon Snow POP!, and not just any Jon Snow - a limited edition version of his Castle Black design, sporting a 'muddy' look. Even though this limited edition POP! was released at San Diego Comic-Con, somehow a reasonably priced batch of them made it to my tiny local Forbidden Planet store so yay for that!

As I said in my Travel Diary: London & Ed Sheeran post, I recently bought a Jaime Lannister POP! vinyl from Shaftesbury Avenue's Forbidden Planet megastore. I was surprised to find him there as I'd been under the impression he hadn't been released yet at that point, so I happily snatched him up. I also find him much nicer (and more up-to-date) than the first Jaime Lannister POP! design. Now then, only two Lannisters to go!

Thanks for reading! Do you have any POP! vinyls or other collectible items? I'd love to hear about them in the comments :)
